The orchestra was founded in 1888 by six friends and held its first concert in the City Halls Glasgow in April that year.

We now have a membership of over 50 players and continue to play our Annual Concert in the City Halls Glasgow. We still love music! We love playing traditional Scottish reels, jigs, strathspeys, waltzes, polkas, two-steps, slow airs and folk tunes.

We perform at concerts throughout the playing season (October to May) for many groups, organisations and charities, to help them raise funds.

We have players of all ages, some are still at school, some are students, some work and some are retired. Currently members play violin, accordion, flute, percussion the double bass, piano, guitar and whistle- but we welcome other instruments too.  If you have an interest in playing with us why not come along to our rehearsal night and give it a go.
